Echoes

Concept for an immersive audio experience using physical space and beacon technology.

An audio installation where participants move through a space and the narrative unfolds around them based on where they are. Inspired by fictional depictions of faded British seaside towns in writing and film: the rhythms and sounds of everyday life with something darker underneath. The following is a visual treatment concept video of the prototype installation that was created.

The technology came from working with beacons on a previous project. They were unreliable for precise location tracking, which was frustrating at the time. But that inaccuracy felt interesting for something more experimental. What if you used that imprecision deliberately? Sounds bleeding into each other, overlapping, creating a more atmospheric experience rather than a clean, controlled one.

The idea: let the technology's limitations become part of the aesthetic.
